Three Dimensional

Tool For A Famous Thinker:

I created a head piece for Edgar Allen Poe. I modeled my idea off of the poem “The Raven”. On the inside of the wings are ear plugs. So, the tool is a headpiece that doubles as ear plugs. In the poem Edgar Allen Poe constantly hears a tapping on his chamber door. After sometime he discovers what is tapping, a raven. When the Raven was confronted it simply repeats the word “Nevermore”. The headpiece is ironic in that the speaker wants the raven to stop making noise, but the raven is the one that is blocking out the noise for him. Just because the noise is gone does not mean the raven is actually gone.

The body of the Raven was created using the application Rhino. Then it was 3d printed on a J750 3D printer in ESU’s Stratasys Super Lab. The wings and tail were drawn in Adobe Illustrator and then laser cut into leather. They were cut into six pieces, then sewn together.
